Coimbatore International Airport (CJB)

Originally laid out in 1935 as Peelamedu Aerodrome, the airport served as a WWII staging ground for Allied aircraft. After independence it transitioned to civilian use, and was upgraded to international status to serve the city's growing textile and manufacturing industries — now offering direct flights to Dubai, Singapore, and Sharjah.

Pre-paid taxis, Ola, and Uber are available outside the arrivals hall.

Coimbatore Junction (CBE)

Opened in 1862 under the Madras Railway, Coimbatore Junction was among the first stations built in the Nilgiri foothills. As the hill-railway era expanded and the textile trade boomed, it grew into the busiest rail interchange in Western Tamil Nadu — today handling over 150 trains daily connecting to Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and beyond.

Podanur Junction (PTJ)

Established in 1861 — a full year before Coimbatore Junction — Podanur is one of the oldest railway stations in Tamil Nadu. It served as the original railway gateway to the Coimbatore region during the early Madras Railway era, and remains a key interchange today for trains arriving from Salem, Erode, and the northern routes.

Smaller and quieter than the main junction; autos and local cabs are available outside.
